These Terms and Conditions govern bookings made through 4Drive Greece. By completing a booking on our website, you accept these terms in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with your reservation.
4Drive Greece operates as a booking platform connecting customers with local rental companies across Greece. We facilitate reservations but do not own or operate the vehicles. The actual rental agreement is concluded directly between you and the local rental company at the time you collect the vehicle.
Each booking is subject to these Terms and Conditions as well as the specific terms of the rental company that will provide your vehicle. Details of the rental company, including contact information and specific terms, are provided in your booking voucher. Any conflict between these terms and the rental company's terms will be resolved in favour of the rental company's terms for matters relating directly to vehicle use and return.
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions. The version in effect at the time of your booking will apply to that reservation. Changes will not affect bookings already confirmed.
When you complete a booking on our website, you receive a voucher by email. This voucher contains all essential information: the rental company's name and contact details, collection location and time, vehicle type, and any additional services you have requested. The voucher is not the rental agreement itself.
The binding rental agreement is signed when you collect the vehicle from the local rental company. At that point, the rental company will inspect the vehicle with you and record any existing damage in the rental contract. Both parties sign this document, which sets out the legal obligations for the rental period. You must present the voucher, a valid driving licence, and the payment method specified in your booking confirmation.
Collection procedures vary by rental company. Some operate desks at airport terminals, others have offices near airports or in city centres, and some offer delivery to hotels or specified addresses. The exact collection method and location are confirmed in your voucher. Ensure you arrive at the agreed time; late arrival may result in cancellation without refund if the rental company cannot accommodate the delay.
At the time of booking, you pay an advance online by debit or credit card through our secure payment system. This advance secures your reservation and is non-refundable except where cancellation terms permit. Cash payments are not accepted for online bookings. The advance amount is stated clearly before you confirm your booking.
The remaining balance is paid directly to the rental company when you collect the vehicle. The accepted payment method for the balance depends on the specific vehicle you have booked and is stated in your voucher and booking confirmation. Options may include debit card, credit card, or cash. Requirements vary by vehicle, not by vehicle class, so two vehicles of similar type may have different payment conditions.
If you hold only a debit card and the rental company requires a credit card for the balance, contact us before your collection date. In some cases, ensuring your debit card has a sufficient limit may resolve the issue, but this depends on the rental company's policy. We recommend reviewing payment requirements in your voucher immediately after booking to avoid complications at collection.
Most rental companies require a deposit at the time of collection. This deposit is a temporary hold or block on your card, separate from the rental payment. The amount and method depend on the specific vehicle you have booked and are stated in your voucher and booking confirmation. The deposit is held as security against damage, traffic fines, or other charges that may arise during the rental period.
The deposit is not collected by 4Drive Greece. The rental company processes the hold and releases it after you return the vehicle in the agreed condition and without outstanding charges. Release times vary by rental company and card issuer, typically between three and fourteen days. Some vehicles are available without a deposit requirement; these options are clearly marked during the booking process.
The deposit is independent of insurance coverage. Even if you select coverage with reduced excess, a deposit may still apply. The deposit amount, method, and conditions are determined by the rental company and the vehicle model, not by the insurance or coverage option you choose.
The main driver must present a valid driving licence at collection. Licences issued by EU member states are accepted without additional documentation. Drivers holding licences from outside the EU should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their national licence. The rental company verifies all documents before handing over the vehicle.
Additional drivers may be added to the rental agreement at collection for an extra fee, payable directly to the rental company. Each additional driver must present a valid licence and meet the same requirements as the main driver. Only drivers named on the rental agreement are permitted to operate the vehicle. Unauthorised drivers void insurance coverage and may result in liability for all damages.
Age and experience requirements are set by the rental company and vary by vehicle type. These requirements are stated in your booking confirmation and voucher. Ensure all drivers meet the criteria before arrival to avoid refusal at collection.
Vehicles must be used in accordance with the rental agreement signed at collection. Standard use includes driving on paved public roads and designated routes. Off-road driving, participation in motorsport, or use for commercial purposes such as taxi services is prohibited unless explicitly permitted in writing by the rental company.
Greece operates right-hand traffic. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on rural roads, 110 km/h on expressways, and 130 km/h on motorways. Mainland motorways have tolls collected via electronic and cash lanes; Crete has no toll roads. Fuel stations in villages may close early, so plan refuelling accordingly. BP and Shell stations are widely available across the country.
If you intend to travel by ferry to other Greek islands or to the mainland from an island, you must notify the rental company in advance and obtain written permission. Ferry tickets must be arranged separately; some rental companies offer this service for a fee. Unauthorised ferry travel breaches the rental agreement and voids insurance coverage. Similarly, crossing international borders is generally prohibited unless prior written permission is obtained.
If you need to modify your booking dates, collection location, or vehicle type, contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible. Changes are subject to availability and may incur additional charges depending on the new booking parameters and how close to the collection date you request the change. We will confirm any changes in writing by email.
Cancellation terms depend on how far in advance you cancel. Generally, cancellations made more than fourteen days before the collection date receive a partial refund of the advance. Cancellations made within fourteen days of collection forfeit the full advance. Exact cancellation terms are stated in your booking confirmation. If the rental company cannot provide the vehicle type you booked due to circumstances beyond their control, they will offer a similar or higher category vehicle at no extra cost. If no suitable alternative is available, you will receive a full refund of all payments made. We are not liable for consequential losses such as accommodation costs or missed activities resulting from unavailability.
4Drive Greece facilitates bookings but does not own or operate the vehicles. The rental company is responsible for the condition, maintenance, and insurance of the vehicle. Any claims relating to vehicle defects, accidents, or breaches of the rental agreement must be directed to the rental company in the first instance, using the contact details provided in your voucher.
We are not liable for any damage, loss, or injury arising from your use of the vehicle or from the acts or omissions of the rental company. Our liability is limited to the advance payment you made through our website. We do not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses, including but not limited to loss of enjoyment, alternative transport costs, or accommodation expenses.
You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle, traffic fines, parking charges, or other costs incurred during the rental period in accordance with the rental agreement signed with the rental company. The rental company will deduct such costs from the deposit or charge your payment card if the deposit is insufficient. Disputes over charges should be raised directly with the rental company.
If you encounter any issues during the rental period, contact the rental company immediately using the phone number and email address provided in your voucher. Most problems can be resolved quickly when reported promptly. Document any issues with photographs and written notes where possible.
For complaints about the booking process, our service, or unresolved issues with the rental company, email us at [email protected] with your booking reference number and a full description of the problem. We will investigate and respond within five working days. If the complaint relates to the rental company's conduct or vehicle condition, we will liaise with them on your behalf to seek a resolution.
Our office is located at Eleftherias Square, Heraklion, Greece, and we operate Monday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+2). Written complaints should be directed to the email address above. We aim to resolve all complaints fairly and efficiently, but our ability to secure remedies depends on the rental company's cooperation and policies.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Greece. Any disputes arising from your booking or these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Greek courts. The rental agreement you sign with the local rental company is also governed by Greek law.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. No failure or delay by 4Drive Greece in exercising any right under these terms constitutes a waiver of that right.
